  • Hi...I think why your boxer dogs are biting their paws is because they have been walking on fairly hard ground and it's made their pads hard,my dog does the same, let them continue to lick and bite their paws. I would not worry too much...have a look at their pads and if it looks cracked and bleeding I would visit the vet.
  • Definitely sounds like some sort of allergy. I'd suspect contact allergy, like have you sprayed your lawn or road base? Or more than likely the dog food formula could have been changed. Usually when dogs lick their paws it's because of food allergies. And they can develop these at any time, regardless of how long they have eaten it, in fact sometimes it is because they have eaten just one kind of food for so long. I would try to find a better dog food or go all natural on the BARF(Bone And Raw Food) diet. We have fed our newfoundlands a BARF diet for years and have had amazing results in every way. Here are some links that may help you with your search. http://www.barfworld.com/html/barf_diet/barfdiet_specific.shtml http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/
  • It could be an irritation, you can treat it with antibiotics (see your local vet for more details) or with some or surgical spirits, it can be that there is an overflow of body acid and it can cause "athletes foot" with the dog, I have 2 boxers my-self. You get antibiotics that dries out the irritation, but you will have to treat it at least every 3 months or so cause it comes and goes in stages. I might be wrong, please take note I am referring to previous experience with my own dogs, my advice is to take them to a vet for a check up. It should not be too serious I hope. Good luck and give them each a hug from me.
  • fleas, plain n simple
  • Fleas can make them do this.. even if they are on flea prevention. We found fleas on our dogs when they started digging at their paws because that is usually where the fleas come onto their bodies and is a major sign of the presence of fleas. Our had been on frontline so we were confused so.. our vet has us switching back and forths from frontline to advantage because as it got closer to the time to give them the flea medicine.. they were becoming suceptible to fleas when the old stuff would be wearing off. It has actually helped.. however our weenie has developed an allergy.. and licking their paws is a sign of an allergy. Allergies can get out of hand and before we knew it, he had a bacterial infection and had to be treated with antibiotics and a steroid. It could be either of these or something else.. take your dogs to the vet ASAP to find out exactly what is causing this. It could be different things.. and if it is an allergy.. you really want to catch it soon. Determining what allergy a dog has is a whole different kind of issue in itself. They have an allergy test that runs about $500 bucks.. and let me tell you.. it does not always determine what the allergy is.. We tried switching foods.. treats.. etc but there are thousands of allergens our dogs face that it could be. See your vet and hope there just needs to be a change in the flea prevention. Good luck!
  • Look closely between the pads, most likely fleas or mites
  • if this happens after they have been outside then it's the grass. my boxer does the same thing when she has been outside.
  • flies and boardom
