  • i often times try to be xtraxtra polite in that situation...sometimes it even turns the other persons additude around...if it doesnt, well at least between the two of us we know who the asshole was!
  • I remain nice. No point in both of us being difficult. If it gets real bad, I'll ask for a supervisor.
  • it all depends on the moody i am wearing and how frustrated i am
  • I personally would like to rip out their no no spot hair.
  • this happened to me the other day. my dad paid twenty pounds for a bedside tv and phone in the hospital and it charged him 2.90 a day instead of ten pound for the 5 days. i rang up to ask why and the lady on the phone was really rude. i ended up putting the phone down before i got to angry.
  • I am nice but i wish i could be nasty with them give them some of their own medicine but i am usually at work and have to remain polite
  • I had a bad one and I cursed at them because I was livid. It got me nowhere. I didn't get the refund I deserved and they probably noted my account that I was a jerk. Now I am always polite and act like I gotta go If I get a bad one. Then I just call back until someone is better at their job.
  • Oh, I'm rude right back- I do not suffer fools lightly. Once, when I had a fulltime job, I had to stay home all day to wait for the cable guy. He did not show up. I called, and I was told the cable guy came, no one was there, and he left a note. I told her my home office desk is right near the front door, I was home all day, no one came, and there is no note. She refused to believe me- in her mind, if the cable guy says something it's true, and if a customer says something different, it's false. I had to stay home a second day waiting for the cable guy.
  • If the person has a real attitude I usually ask, "Are you having a bad day?" At that point they: -become super nice because I took the time to ask about them -or turn at least neutral because they realize how awful they sound -or get offended If they're offended they still either get neutral or get worse but that makes it easier to ask for someone else to take care of my call, if I need to. I am not as angry about the situation because it reminds ME these are people at their jobs with thoughts and feelings, too.
  • I'll ask to speak to their manager.
  • I try to be super extra special nice to drive the message home that they are being rude, it doesn't work but it makes me feel better.
  • I hang up & call back, there's thousands of reps, gotta be at least one nice one.
  • I am currently a customer service rep. Its not accecptable for a rep like this to be rude. On the other hand, everyone has a bad day now and then. But that does not mean that they have a right to be rude. But rudeness can be subjective. For example, if I am telling someone that there computer is broken and it cannot be fixed. A customer might take this as my being rude. Its never aceptable to be rude in kind. But If they were being rude, I would let them know that this it not accecptable and perhaps ask to speak to their supervisor.
  • I tend to be really nice. That said, i am one of those guys, and i know how stressed out we can get. We have people yelling at us all day things like "get your handle time down, keep up your dollars per call, get out of idle code (after 7 seconds of downtime after a call). So we really do work hard, and try to serve you the best (this is assuming that *we* are a reputable company) Personally I try to provide the best customer experience that i can, because i know that that is what i would expect if i were calling in.
  • - I just hang put and dial again for someone nicer/better. - I ask for their supervisor.
  • 1) I would speak calmly hoping that they will settle down. 2) I would ask for their name and ask to speak to their supervisor. 3) Hang up the phone in hopes that another Customer Service Representative will answer the phone, someone who will be more cooperative and willing to help. It is so hard to not get upset when someone is being rude to begin with. Getting upset and being rude back is not the solution. You need to take in consideration that they may be having a bad day.
  • I would like to put my two cents in about being on the other side - I'm a consumer also and if someone calls in on my line with an attitude, I have no desire to do them a favor - that's what it is when i waive a fee or take my time to solve their concern instead of pushing my sales and handle time so I can make enough to feed my family and move up in the company. It's better to be nice because it is up to the rep what you get - and if it's their last day on that job, as turnover is extremely high, you may not want to be rude. Customers tend to think the job is easy and have the approach that this call is the first and only one of the day, and that's not true. Managers usually know less than the reps because they are not on the phones and with constant change, can't keep up. Requesting a supervisor is usually useless, they will tell you the same thing - and that's usually all the customer wants. Usually you are also not speaking with a supervisor but another rep, who for several hours takes calls to help out with the call volume. Complaining about charges on your bill and your wait time to get to me is also pointless - what do I care? plus, I have no control over these things. And people, stop complaining about "all these charges" - try voting, I don't make your state laws. And cussing at me is just business as usual. Stuff happens - I correct the bill. Complain to soemone else, I can't make your bills look different, your hold time shorter and some appreciation would be nice once and a while - I have my own family and bills. And by the way, it's not my problem if you're not on the account, that's your deal. I have to ask for your SSN or DOB to verify you are you - makes me wonder, how many of those who complain about this would like it if someone accesses their account and gets information they should not have - would they complain then too? I think so. and if you called the wrong number and can't read your terms and conditions, guess what? You had your chance to do so. The most obnoxious thing is hearing someone complain that their service is off because no one reminded them to pay their bill - hey, doofus, that's your credit, not mine! And you did not receive the bill or your check bounced because you did not have the funds available? You knew there would be a bill, the service is not free and your funds need to be available for longer than 6 days! By the way, I am also not the postal service, so if your check is late because you live in BFE and your postal delivery is not timely, go yell at someone else. And if you can't listen to me explaining proration, then don't waste both of our time - take a math class. I am right, I know what you will bitch about before you say it and I am just waiting for my next break to talk about what a meathead you are! Oh yeah, and talking down to me because you are a doctor won't make your bills lower. I really don't care how much money you make or who you are, I love making you feel like an idiot! That's really my only form of entertainment for the moment, so don't tempt me! And sue me! Those threats and hearing you write down my name and record the exact time don't scare me, it gives me the chance to hang up on you and shut you up while suggesting you get legal counsel. I help those who treat me with the same respect extensively, to the point of working off the clock without recognition. I am a person just like you, not your punching bag of the day, and I do not work for you, so I could care less what you want to happen immediately! I mute you and let my co-workers get a laugh out of your assumption that yelling at me will get something done, and requesting my supervisor is very entertaining as I get to listen to you lie about how I don't know my job because you assume I have a magic wand to fix your issue, plus my supervisor and i get a good laugh out of you there too. I treat all customers with respect, but start your attitude and I will take out all my frustration of the day on you. By the way, I'm in a prestigious law school, so your title does not phase me. There's the reality, and my job is stressful and complicated; and for those who get annoyed that their service can't be installed right now!! I would like to let you know that I do not have a switch I flip to turn it on - if I did I would gladly flip it! Thank you for calling, next time please complain to someone else.
