  • I have been stopped three times. Once for "rolling" through a stop sign, once for my passenger not wearing a seat belt, and once for going the wrong way on a one way street--it was one of those streets that is only one way on certain days and times. All three occasions I received a warning and no ticket & they were polite. I guess I have been very lucky.
  • I've been stopped twice in the last 2 years for speeding. Both times, I was driving along 'head up it' not realizing how fast I was going. Both times, the officers asked why I was in such a hurry. Both times, I said I was driving along 'head up it' not realizing how fast I was going. Both times, they told to pull my head out and slow down and released me with time 1) a verbal warning and time 2) a written warning. I'd say they were very polite in a stern way.
  • Got few tickets, but the worst thing was when me and my friend were driving thru this bad neighborhood,a nd our car broke down, we pulled into some closed gas station, few cops drove by us, one stopped, we told them that the car broke down, they were like ok, and as they were pulling out of the gas station, other cop car was pulling in, I was getting out of car to tell them that we just talked to the other cops, and they jumped out, pulled their guns on me, and screamed at me to get back in the car, then I told I just spoke to the other cops like 15 seconds ago, and they were like, ok and left...
  • I have been stopped by police lots of times (I have a heavy foot) but have only had one ticket. They have always been very polite and professional. Usually if they are otherwise it is because of the bad attitude of the driver...not always..but usually. I have found that if you are polite and respectful, they will return it.
  • Where I grew up we were stopped and searched almost every week. Most of the time the police treated us as we treated them, if we were rude they were rude, if we just accepted it they were polite. We allways got a ticket giving us a reference number incase we wanted to goto the police about being wrongfully targeted.
  • A few times, usually for equipment violations that I was aware of and had the necessary repair parts in the back of the vehicle. The officers were always polite except for one that was also involved in a legal matter involving my (now estranged) brother-in-law. I have been stopped by him again years and he was courteous despite recognizing me and was actually happy to hear that my wife and I were on the outs with her family. I usually escaped with a warning though the two speeding tickets stuck (61 in a 45 and "74" in a 55 where 74=87 but the officer didn't want me to have to drive 800 miles to appear in court). Clean record for the last 5 years :)
  • Last November I was stopped for failure to stop at a stop sign. He gave me two verbal warnings prior, but on the third, he gave me the ticket. He was polite about it, but I sure felt miserable about getting it. It cost me $159.83. Ugh ! Traffic school was fun ! I went to a Comedy Traffic School. Good bye infraction, Good riddins !
  • I've gotten stopped a couple of times for speeding. How they react depends a lot on you. If you're rude, they'll give you a hard time. Then again, the one time I got a ticket, I deserved it anyway so it was no big deal. They're just doing the job we pay them to do. Just remember, they're people with feelings and families to go home to at the end of the work day, just like you.
  • Too many times to count. They were polite except for just a couple of times. Sometimes I've got a ticket, sometimes a warning.
  • For about 6 months I was stopped on a weekly basis...when my mom lost her driver's liscence, I was driving her car. it was registered in her name and whenever the plates got run I would get pulled over because they thought I was her. They were always very nice and polite once they realized I had a valid liscence. I finally just had the car put into my name to avoid the hassle. I also had a speeding ticket once...it was Thanksgiving and I was running late for the "big" dinner with my family...was going 73 in a 55. Got an $85 ticket for that one but I deserved it.
  • Yes. They were polite. I just got a warning for failure to yield the right of way.
  • I've been stopped once by a very polite officer, who gave me a warning. I didn't know tinted license plate cover was not allowed in my state.
  • Well.... with my many brush-ins with the speed enforcement officers around the area... I HAVE found most of them to be very polite and professional.
  • I've been stopped several times, one was polite, most were not.
  • I've been stopped many times, never by a polite officer. One went as far as to tell me that even though he believes I did nothing wrong, he still was going to ticket me. When I presented this situation to the judge, he also assured me he believed my story, then proceeded to fine me $150. For a crime both the officer and judge admit I did not commit. What a fine, fine legal system.
  • I was pulled over by a State Trooper a while back (legally speeding, but following the flow of traffic), and he walked up looking tough (stereotype: Shaved head, sunglasses, shoulders as wide as he was tall). I rolled down the window and he looked inside the car. Sitting next to me was a cat carrier, and as he was about to say something the kitten sneezed. He asked me if the kitten was OK, and I told him that I just picked it up to foster it from a local organization. He got this big smile and said that he and his wife got their dogs from the same place. He told me to get that kitten home and take care of it.
  • Far too many times I have gotten a ticket or worse, I've also witnessed first hand others, especially ladies get preferential treatment with minor verbal warnings for things I was taken to task for. and in my humble opinion I was far less guilty than those I've seen slip past "justice".
  • yeah, but that whole "blonde thing" really does work so he ended up giving me his number instead of the ticket. oh and yeah he was nice :)
  • Not for 20 years or so...except at work they used to want to know if someone suspect was travelling on a flight...they were always polite..because I didn't have to give them the information that easily..but I did.
  • Oh, yeah. Once for crossing the double line. Got a warning. Multipul times for speeding. All tickets except for two times I got a warning and one wave on becaue of traffic. Once for driving too slow. I was tired and was driving a little "drunk". Got a warning on that one. And once for not stopping at a stop sign I had stopped at. I swear he was not around when I stopped the first time and all he saw was me creep up before I turned. I also think he followed me to see if I would speed and when I didn't he just used the stop sign as an excuse. All, but the last one were polite. The one even stopped me twice in two weeks and only gave me a warning because he felt sorry for me. One told me if it hadn't been a school zone he wouldn't have even stopped me. I did get a lot of lectures.
  • The men yes, they were very sweet & polite & let me by with a warning. I got lucky about 10 years ago I got stopped 3 times in 1 week because of a headlight being out. They were in different counties & luckily they just gave me verbal warnings & the state trooper(which was haaawwt in that uniform) gave me a written warning. But last year I was in a DUI check point & I was driving because my husband was drinking & every thing was legal on my car but my lic were 2 weeks expired. A female officer gave me a ticket(bytch) & when I went to renew my lic the employees at the DMV said she should've just gave me a warning. She ws just being a witch, I would like to take 168.00 out of her butt for that. Normally I have great respect for the law but she by all means is on my crap list. We live 2 counties away from the DMV & when you work 5 days a week its hard to get there to renew them. Oh well she can say she got a weeks worth of my payday for free.(witch)
  • I was stopped for speeding, no seat belt, and illegal lane change (almost hitting the cop). When he approached the car I had my hands on the steering wheel with license and insurance in hand. I apologized for endangering the officer and I thanked him for pulling me over since I was driving like an idiot. I admitted I should not have been driving that way and told him I would be sure not to do that in the future. After he ran my license and found nothing outstanding and no prior run ins with the law he returned to the car and gave me a verbal warning only. I thanked him again for his service and went on my way. This often works, 2 other times in 10 years for me, treat the officer kindly, admit your error DO NOT ARGUE. Thank them for pointing out your mistakes and promise you will be a more responsible driver/citizen in the future. I think it kind of surprises the cop when you don't argue and deny. They seem to appreciate the honesty.
  • I've been stopped several times over the years. I would say that most of the time they have been professional. I've had lots of warnings but no tickets - yet.
  • Me personally no, but I have with my husband, th elast time was twice!!! while driving our moving van through Ohio. OH! I hate Ohio police or rangers, whatever they were. I couldn't figure out, even with all our paperwork in hand, why a couple from California were driving a truck which we had just bought from Texas to New York. Well excuse me. They made us get out of the car. They thought I looked suspicious because I was sitting in the passenger seat and didn't roll down my window right away when they pulled up, even if they went to the other door! I have since found out they give lots of people a bad time in that state!
  • Yes I have been stopped, usually for speeding, they were very polite and I have never been given a ticket from the Police. I finally got one caught on a speed camera
  • Yes, twice once for speeding (I was) got a ticket: once for turning on a red light (I wasn't at fault that time) still got a ticket!
  • Most of the police I have encountered have been very professional. Only a few times did I meet a rude one. I have had about 5 or 6 tickets since I was 15. About 7 written warning, and oh, I'd say 20 or so verbal warnings.
  • Very polite and professional. I've gotten a few tickets and one verbal warning.
