Do you think the people at Gallop Poll would get a wonderful cross section of how people feel about various subjects by reading the Q&A in Answerbag?

I never take polls very seriously anyway since I have never been, nor known anyone who has ever been polled. Polls are so easy to twist in whatever direction you want just by how the question is phrased: Do you like chocolate or vanilla ice cream better? or Would you rather eat Vanilla ice cream or dog crap? One poll will have an even split while the other will show every loves vanilla ice cream. So, to answer the question, yes, gallop could save a lot of time and hassle by merely logging on th AB instead of slanting polls in the way they wish.

Absolutely not! Answerbag is NOT representative of the general population. We are a more curious type. We're probably more middle-class than the typical person. There are probably fewer lawyers, doctors, and homeless people on here than in the general population. There are too many youngsters here, too. I doubt there are very many people on AB over the age of 50.
