Do you think that the president should take advice from the smartest people in their individual fields, in order to make educated decisions? Doesnt it seem like the logical thing to do...?

I am sure he allows them to give advice but the way things are I say he doesn't listen.

That is what he is supposed to do. He is supposed to appoint a cabinet of really clever, knowledgeable people to help him run the country. He can choose whoever he wants, unlike some other countries where the cabinet has to be chosen from elected representatives. He has a civil service that is supposed to be stuffed full of clever people. There are very few smart people in the country who would turn down a call from the President. But first he has to be smart enough himself to know who the smart people are. This president prefers loyal friends to smart people who might tell him where he is getting it wrong/
