  • Apple Macbooks are very, very nice machines, if you can afford one. They can run both systems (or all three, if you run linux), are Virus free (basically), and crash a lot less. Not to mention the quality of the parts put into them, and the care that apple takes to make sure everything works together well. I think that it's worth the money. =)
  • well apple macs don;t get viruses or crash (well not very often, my friend has had one for 3 years and it has only crashed once but it was his fault lol)
  • Yes yes yes! I wouldn't have a Windows machine although I do run Windows on this MBPro every so often. Funny, the Windows OS running on my Mac doesn't have viruses either (yet) but my soonexhubby's Dell laptop always has something or other clogging it up. It's just high maintenance all the time (sort of like he is)!
  • For longer than I care to remember, I have been a Windows user, and until 2003, when I have transitioned into MacBook -- Honestly, I'm never going back to Windows -- So, my answer is Yes -- The moral of the story is that you get what you pay for.
  • Short answer... Yes! Long answer... MacBooks come in a limited and strictly control number of models with standard configurations and this allows apple to write very tight code for it's OS. This reduces the number of problems with software interoperability and increases the difficulty of hackers writing viruses for it. With a Windows machine you have virus problems, incompatibility problems, upgrade problems and plain old ordinary #%@&ing Windows problems. With an OSX powered MacBook you only have operator problems. BTW, I do not own a MacBook, but stare with longing everytime my wife opens hers. Hope this helps.
  • I have always used PC's and have gotten pretty good a fixing them. In the past year I worked freelance with a small group who were Mac only, I liked some of the programs, and the built in Camera. I purchased a new Macbook three months ago, and the known issues( which weren't known to me) Came out of the closet. The faceplate of my keyboard cracked, which they said they would fix because it was a common issue, and the hard drive isn't being recognized, but because of some damage which was done by a family member( can't get a dime out of) they won't fix anything. I tried to replace from a used one, but seems like unless it it the current year, nothing fits the same. I have a Macbook, and a Macbook pro that I cant afford to fix, this is not worth it to me. I would rather buy a compaq, and know I can get the parts for next to nothing and fix myself more than likely, than Get in line at AppleCare only to be given some Outlandish price, which wont be much cheaper at a Certified Repairer. What a waste of almost two thousand of my hard earned dollars. I am not throwning any more money at this problem. I will never by anything else Apple. There're too many other reasonable competitors who are willing to accomodate my needs after purchase. Customer Service is KING.
  • A few weeks ago, I saw an article on Macworld's website in which the author actually compared all three of Apples laptop models to comparably equipped Windows laptops. The conclusions that they drew were that the Apples actually compared quite favorably in price. The old complaint that Apple's computers are more expensive than PCs has not been true for years. When you you actually compare prices on computers that have equivalent specs, Apple's prices are actually about the same as the PCs' prices. It's just that PC manufacture cheaper computers that use lower quality parts than Apple does. The old say is still true. You really do get what you pay for. BTW, I would have linked to the article, but I could not find it again.
