At what point when looking for a job should you give up on being fussy and looking for something you want and just start applying for anything that pays?

It depends on how badly you need a job really. If you are getting to the point to where financially you cannot afford to no longer be working, then take what you can get. But if you have the financial stability to be picky, then keep on looking until you find something you will truly be happy with. Just remember that if you do have to suck it up and get a job you don't really want, that doesn't mean you can't still keep looking for your dream job.
