The Catholic church marries couples where one of the two is not Catholic, or Catholic "only by birth". ("Ethnically Catholiic", as I call myself.) They might have to commit to raising the children in the church. I don't know about other mainline "traditional" denominations, but I'd say that most, if not all, Protestants value communion less than the Catholics, so that wouldn't be much of a factor. It might depend more on the individual church. Some churches are a LOT more easygoing about these things, like mine.

In Australia you don't have to be baptised to have a church wedding but the ceremony is different.

My daughter and her husband got married in a city park. Her best friend got married in her parents' back yard (which was pretty large and nicely landscaped). The local botanical garden is a popular chice. Some hotels have atrium areas or other settings that are nice for weddings. You'd have to call your town's Parks and Recreation Dept. to see if there are parks in your area where weddings can be scheduled.
