  • Because there IS gray area. In the argument about souls- if you believe IN souls, no one truly knows when a fetus, or child actually acquires this soul. Also, there is the argument about whether to make it legal for rape, incest and health reasons- there is LOTS of gray area there. This argument is absolutely not black and white.
  • There are several milestones in the course of a pregnancy that could be argued to be the "beginning of life", or the point after which abortion should be forbidden or restricted. Besides conception and birth, there is also - the formation of the fetus. - the quickening (the first movement of the fetus that the mother feels). - viability -- could the fetus survive outside the womb? (This played an important role in the "Roe vs Wade" decision of the US Supreme Court).
  • i beleive that the 'opportunity' of life begins at conception, but i also beleive that couples and single women have the right to choose whether that life exsists or not. it isnt up to the government or anyone else, as they dont know the situation of the inderviduals.
  • I believe that when the baby becomes a baby, ie when it is no longer an egg but a small tiny little human being, then it is alive and abortion is wrong. I dont like the idea of abortion anyway, but aslong as it is for medical reasons and not because the baby is not wanted then it is ok.
  • I have a very strong biased fear of defining abortion as murder because in the case of a miscarriage the baby is alive one moment and then the next moment the baby no longer is living. In most cases this is best for the baby, the most humane situation because the baby has some defect and would be unable to survive in the real world. I would hate for society to go gunning for all the women who have miscarriages and call them murderers!!!!!!!!So in my humble opinion I can now nor ever go along with a defintion of life begins at conception.
