  • It's worth consideration that the Bible describes Moses as "a great man in his generation." We shouldn't condemn those of previous generations unless we're ready to be condemned by future generations. Maybe in a generation or two everyone will be vegan and think you and I were little better than cannibals! It's easy for us to condemn slaveholders like Washington and Jefferson, but we forget that the alternative to slavery for their slaves wasn't freedom. It was being eaten by cannibals or thrown into the river for the crocodiles--as happened even in our generation in Rwanda and may be happening in Darfur.
