It can take a while to remember how but I don't think it gets lost forever.

Yes. But you can also remember. You can think you ARE your depression after having been depressed for so long. But you can also learn that this is not true. The bottom line is that where there's life, there's hope. Cliche, yes. But I present myself to you as a living example of this. And I wish you much inner peace and joy. I have faith in you:)

I believe you can forget, but I do not believe that you can never be restored to happiness in this present life and time we have. Just because you forget how to be happy does not at all mean that you will never be happy again. What is even better than happiness is joy. Happiness is external, and is also based on circumstances. Joy is internal and is not based on circumstances. You can be joyful and depressed and the same time. Joy, however, can overcome depression. :) I hope that this is helpful to you.:D -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!

I don't think you forget, but your depression and misery becomes self-fulfilling after a while... you see the dark cloud hovering over everything good that presents itself in your life, and you become suspicious of any happiness that comes your way, as if you are looking for the small print that will f*** you up even more than before. You just need to decide to let go of the worries about things that are beyond control, accept that bad stuff may happen, but also that it may not, and open yourself once again to the possibilities of happiness that are present in so many places in life. You don't "forget" how to be happy, you just choose not to allow yourself to be, and the first step to recovering is to recognise the problems your mindset causes and make a conscious effort to change this.

The best way to "get happy" is to look outward and do something for someone else. That always works for me. If you just sit and stew about how unhappy you are you aren't helping yourself at all and aren't being of help to others. Do an unexpected kind thing for someone just out of the blue..if that doesn't make you happy then I can't offer anything else to you. If you keep looking outward to see how you can be useful, it might get to be a habit and you'll be so busy you won't have time to worry about whether you are depressed or not. :)

Yes, I do think so.
-
Yes. I believe I am entering this process.

Happiness is a state of mind that can be achieved through practice. It is a choice we make to be happy and if we feel we deserve to be happy.Once one makes themselves deserving of being happy ,then one becomes happy.
-
Absolutely; I did... I got to a point where the ONLY emotion I could feel, remember, or imagine, was sorrow... Shortly after I tried to kill myself 3 times : / Don't let yourself get to that stage - do everything you can (even if it means conscious self-delusion) to stay positive and think of happy things, try to seek support and comfort in everything you do, etc
-
No i don't.
-
I've definitely felt that way.
-
Yes. I don't think it is permanent though.

yes, i think so.and i believe that there are many people too, not only us. in reality, during stress many people do not have fun, or join any happiness with others. sometime they try so hard but cannot get ot, cause they have no feeling. these result the bad health. really! in our life no one will always got all what they want. life is like a game, the winner will be happy and the loser will be cry. Happy and sad what do you want? if i were you i will chose the word Happy. truely, you also have rights to chose what you want and need. so why do you chose the happiness for your life. sometime we ought to not think of sth that make us feel sad. maybe you will say ( i chose it but i cannot get it) i will tell you that " you can get what you want, if you think you can" finnally i wish you be happy soon, try your best and i know you can do it, and you will do very well. i believe in you! :)
