I adore "Grizzly Man," a doc about Timothy Treadwell, a lunatic who spent thirteen summers with grizzly bears and then was mauled to death.

Shoah - by Claude Lanzmann. It's is a 9hr documentary on the holocaust. 9hrs? yes, but it is such a great piece of work that it flies by and actually seems too short. Sorry for no insert.
