  • This term generally means the act of typing someone's name into the search engine Google in order to see if they are mentioned on any web pages. There have been reports about employers "Googling" potential employees, and also the slightly unsavoury practice of people "Googling" individuals they have started dating. It's very easy to do. Simply go to www.google.com and type a person's name into the search box. If you put quotes around the name (ie. "John Smith") you will get a more accurate result. You may have to scroll through many search results before you find the individual you are searching for. Generally the most frequent results are for people who have a presence on their corporate web site, particularly if they work for a large company with a strong web presence. And of course for some people you won't find anything. Happy Googling!
  • Just type in their name I guess!
  • 1) Go here: www.google.com 2) Type in their name...if you really want to get technical, put " " around their whole name. That simple.
  • Sneak up behind them, yell, "GOOGLE GOOGLE GOOGLE! I'M GOOGLING YOU! YOU'RE BEING GOOGLED!" and run away. Real answer: go to http://www.google.com and type in their name. Press enter. Frame the name with quotation marks if you're feeling precise.

  • 1) You must go on the homepage of the search engine Google. Here you can enter the name of that person in the input field. After this, you press the button "Google Search" and a list of results appears. These are the internet pages which contain the words entered. 2) Homepage of Google: http://www.google.com/ There are many other versions looking for results only in a particular language or country. For instance for Kenya: http://www.google.co.ke/ 3) If you want to get better results, you could try to put the parts of the name in quotes, for instance: "Karen Blixen" So it would not search just for the words, but for the exact string. 4) On the result page, you can search again, get further results and consult the help page (Search Tips) 5) Google is one of the most popular search engines, here some further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google
  • Buy her a drink, and see what happens.
  • Just type in their name.
  • Just type in one of 3 things: -Their full name -Their primary e-mail address -Their phone number
  • There are some tricks to narrowing down a particular individual. First of all, they have to be somewhat visible in order for Google to return any hits. That is, they have to have their name in a publication, or do a lot of posting on message boards. If there's no information for Google to index, it's not going to return any results. Enclose the full name in quotation marks and include the city. "Bryan Ray" Wichita, KS will get you some info on me. Notably, my Amazon profile, a web page I constructed for a roleplaying game, and some posts on a forum. You'll probably also get a lot of spurious results. There are evidently quite a few football players named Bryan Ray, for instance. If you know any of your target's aliases, don't forget to put those in to see what comes up. A lot of 'net handles are so common that it may take some additional filtering to narrow things down. Again, using myself as an example, I find that I have to add -FFXI -"Final Fantasy" -WoW to a query for Midgardsormr in order to filter out some obnoxious video game results that are diluting my identity. (The - operator tells Google to omit results that contain certain words or phrases.) Anyway, having done that, I see that my AB profile now comes up as the fourth Google entry. Don't neglect the "advanced search" feature on Google, which can add some additional tools for narrowing your search to a particular individual.
