Yes it is, as Dr Maxwell says, set the jumper on the drive from the kaput HP to "slave". Then plug in the drive from the kaput hp into the wide grey ribbon cable in the working hp. Also connect the white power connector as well. If the good HP will not boot properly now, you may have to change the jumper on the kaput hp's hard drive to "CS" or "Cable Select". If this doesn't make the good hp boot properly, the drive from the kaput hp may be dead. Otherwise, you should now be in windows. My Computer should show you the old drive, which you can format if you want. If windows boots, but the drive is not visible in My Computer, go Start > Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Then, if the new hard drive exists, you need to right-click on it and Activate it.
