Why are people afraid of snakes that are non-venomous?

I like snakes. I think it's the creepy way they move that creep people out.

Because people dont know which ones are and which ones are not venomous, so they are afraid of all of them , just in case. ;o)

if it werent for those retarded movies, people wouldn't have the idea that all snakes are dangerous. for some people, their first thought when they picture a snake is one either with giant poisonous fangs, or one constricting a human to death.

For a simple reason that we can't tell if the snake is venomous just by looking at it..when you are confronted with a snake, you don't stop and think if it's venomous or not. You just run!Ü

Seriously I don't know. I feel pity for the poor things because most of the wild snakes are scared to death of me. When I saw a black snake in Florida which are harmless, this girl I knew who I was sharing a ganja laden blunt with went crazy with fear when she saw it on her back porch. I told her it was harmless but some females can have such a phobia of snakes that it is beyond irrational. No, I am scared straight against venomous snakes but non-venomous snakes I am indifferent to feeling fear towards.

Some of the large boas and pythons can suffocate a you if they get around your neck. I remember watching a documentary on Animal Planet about man who was killed by a reticulated python that constricted him, but could not swallow him because his shoulders were too wide.

I saw a thing on TV and they were telling us how to tell if they were poisonous or not by looking at the shape of their face. I roflmao. I am not getting close enough to them to see their face.. are these people nuts.
