  • Natural without meds is best but not always possible. I know very few people who want to keep taking their pills but many don't have that choice.
  • Because continuing to take medications is like pumping up a flat tire every day. It may get the job done but it's not really ideal and it's not fixing the underlying problem. Plus it seems every medication out there has some sort of side effect that either requires MORE medications or requires the patient to live with them.
  • I'm not sure if this hold true universally for everyone, but the feeling is generally initiated by the fact that you are engaging in something artificial...so there's an instinctive tendency to suspect the external entity. Also, most pills make you dreary and drowsy, so you have a mind to get off 'em.
  • In my case, I have a complicated medical situation and must take several meds. I do, however, continually ask which ones can be eliminated or have the dosage lowered. I afraid of becoming addicted to things. But as Auntie Em said, the number one reason is that in the case of some of the meds, the side effects are as bad or worse as the disease process itself.
  • Most meds attempt to suppress the symptom and never address or actually further complicate the cause. Too many doctors prescribe rx's without understanding the biochemistry behind it. Too many patients feel like if they don't get a prescription every time they go to the dr, the trip was a waste. Unless it actually CURES the illness (without major side effects, like damaging my liver , stroke or something) - I resist.
