  • I bought myself a Fry-Daddy from Wal*Mart about a year ago. I can make some awesome drumsticks and fried breaded okra (fresh). By far the best oil I can recommend is Peanut Oil. It will cost slightly more but you will find that it is much purer than your regular vegetable oil and it stores better since you can get more uses out of it. I suppose it has a high smoke point but this is the best oil I can recommend that you get.
  • Nothing can beat peanut oil. It has the highest flash point which means when it will 'explode or flame up'. And every time you reuse that oil the flash point will be lower than before due to degradation. SO if you only start out at 350° (like some soy or canola oils) then the next time you use it it will be closer to 300-325°. THhat could be dangerous. The best place to buy your oil is from an Asian store or from one of the big box stores. They sell a special blend of high flash oil at most of them. It is mostly peanut oil.
  • The other answers are correct. Peanut oil has the highest smoke point of any cooking oil, and is also the most robust. It's also one of the most common ingredients of nitroglycerine.
