Day Labor, probably the only way you will have steady income if you plan on just moving in a month or so anyway, I did this to travel around the country when I was 19 or 20 and I had a great time, you will find yourself meeting so many characters and working so many random jobs, it's really quite liberating and gives you a feeling of freedom to know you can just leave whenever you want

I would rent a room from some one buy a local papper or pappers when you get here and internet search temp jobs near where you want to room and board etc.Or you can get a job with the airlines and fly ever where for free and ride a bike in town. They sell folding bikes or you can rent a car or buy a motor home and go road trip and that will take a lot of gass and be hard to park unless you go to a state park and hook it up etc?

You can usually find a rideshare on Craigslist, but you never know, it might be a whack-o :)

check out couchsurfing.com Of course, you need to be willing to take a certain amount of risk, and your end of the deal is that you actually have to try to be interesting. Another option is to get an RV, and just work temp jobs, or contract positions. Or, if you work in construction. Another option is to get involved with a national social club, and meet people when you go to events. I have a good friend who goes to all the hippy gatherings, and travels around a lot of the rest of the time, staying with friends, and working construction jobs to foot the bill. It goes without saying that he is an incredibly social guy, who is welcome every where he goes...
