  • See, the funny thing about criminals is that they think that a simple thing like ammonia will solve all of their problems. In fact, while ammonia may be distruptive to DNA PCR analysis, it will not break DNA down into the individual neucleotides. Blood is a tricky and difficult substance to clean, since in traumatic events it has a tendency to go farther than you think, but in very tiny droplets. However, these can later be visualized with infrared light or chemical treatments such as luminol or bluestar. Also, these often can show evidence of cleaning (wipe marks, mop streaks) even from the cleaning fluids. That's when we know it's time to look even closer. :)
  • The National Institute of Decontamination Specialists suggests medical enzyme detergent. "This product is a detergent and a low foaming multi-enzyme cleaner designed for the effective removal of all proteins, blood, fatty tissue, etc."
