YES, of course, if all of the Stars were hideous and therefore they would not stress this so strongly to the general public that being skinny and good looking is the ticket to making it big in Hollywood. People would not feel degraded and fat anymore while looking in fashion magazines, they would not be as eager to read up on beauty tips.

No- we would consider what they look like to be pretty, and those who look different to be ugly. Like that Twilight Zone episode where the woman was disfigured, so had to be sent away to live with other freaks- but when she took her bandages off, we saw that she was beautiful by our standards, and the doctors and nurses were deformed.

If that's what it takes for people seem 'prettier' to themselves, that's sad!

Yes, a lot of people compare themselves to celebrities. They would certainly see themselves more prettier.

A lot of celebs have work done and no one ever acknowledges it, as if they were born that way. Celebs have the money to pay people to make them look the way they do, and the rest of us that don't have unlimited bank accounts feel we are "uglier" than these people, when really it's a monetary issue, not one of physical aesthetics. In other words, if they didn't have their money they would probably look as "average" as non-celebrities. Good observation. +

I don't compare myself to Hollywood actors. I don't compare my women to Hollywood actresses. These actors have some sort of idealized beauty or good looks. They doesn't interest me at all. I like character in a face. A few lines. Some experience. A color of hair that's not necessarily blonde. Teeth that look real not factory made. Breasts that could have been made by mother nature. They have so much "work" done on them that I am distracted from the movies. Lips, noses, necks, dimples, eyes, --all phony.
