  • What you've come across appears to be a US Armed Forces Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to service people in any Branch of the US Armed Forces. However a number of other nations also have a very similar Distinguished Flying Cross one of the being the United Kingdom. What's puzzling is the inscription on the back. The medal should have the name and grade of the recepient along with the date of the award. Is the any addtional inscriptions on the back of the medal? Whatever the nation of origin, I do believe you have a Distinguished Flying Cross.
  • Glad I could be of help!
  • Is the inscription sharply engraved, as if by a proper engraving machine, or does it look like something done by hand? Not all medals are engraved. Of the 5 full medals I was awarded, only 1 was engraved and that was because I had to badger DA via my Congressman to add it to my DD214 and they had to send me a medal set.
