I've been doing it for the past 5 years! seriously...i need more sleep than most people and i think its because i didnt sleep at all during my 20's!

scientifically, you actually CANNOT "catch up" on sleep. something about losing an hour a sleep a night for five years is like losing a year of your life [health problems or something]. so i suppose in the short run, you might feel better with a nap or with 12 hours of sleep on your day off, but in the long run, it does nothing.

No. once you have lost that sleep it's gone. You can try to find more rest and sleep more but you can't undue the 'not sleeping' days. Your body was stressed a certain about at that time from lack of sleep and you can not gain it back by sleeping in the future.
