You just have to keep giving helpful answers or good questions. When someone notices your question/answer and think it helps, they will give you points. Don't worry if no one rates you - points are just numbers on the screen. Enjoy Answerbag!

You get points for good questions and good answers. People can rate your questions and answers e.g +2 or -1. You get points for positive rates. The points you collect get you to higher and higher levels. I'm level 6 and that's quite low.

AB has an infinite quantity of points that are freely assessable on demand to all members; the more points you give away the more points you will accumulate in return. You can keep accumulating points like the gravity of a black hole sucks in matter- the more points that go in gives you the greater force to accumulate more points...

Other people award you answers and questions with points. They have no purpose and are of pretty much no importance. You would do yourself a favor by not caring about them at all, more than a few people here are highly strung about points and consider it a personal attack when someone downrates them
