No, I don't agree, because I feel like doing these things teaches them that beauty is everything and to not be "pretty" by everyone else's standards makes you less than good.

With reservations (that both truly enjoy it), I would have no objections. Since a child develops values based more on the values of society as a whole, with the guidance of the parents, I see no harm. If the child was being raised in a vacuum with no input from TV or public school, or any other media, it might not be the best outlet, but that is not the case. A lot of people believe the parents are the only ones who derive any benefit from this activity, but I am not one of them. Some children are "natural" performers and really benefit from this kind of attention.

no.. parading.... no... i believe in being a good parent not forcing a child to anything they dont wanna do...and that beauty is skin deep.

No. I believe we need to teach our children to present themselves well, but pageants often cause conceitedness.
