  • DHL uses other companies for flights over seas and domestic flights. Then there are the truckers that haul packages over the land across a region, say from state to state or in Europe country to country, they get truck stops and are paid not only a salary but also (usually) for fuel, food and stops at truck stops. DHL has distribution centers, in the USA nearly every major city has a warehouse where the packages arrive. Some are sent to stations further down the line, say small towns, most are loaded into vans which are, in the USA, mostly hired contractors - meaning individuals who are in business for themselves who are allowed to use the DHL colors and logos. In this case we are talking local people, like the man next door who lives and works in the city that you live in, like your mail carrier. He can always stop off at home. Most often the van courier will pick up two loads, or have to run into the warehouse. Often part of their route includes stopping at stations, local store fronts where walk in customers walk in to drop off and sometimes pick up packages. Lunch breaks they are "off the clock" and they can do what they want. No a "comfort station" is not offered as such, however the warehouse and the stations will have the facilities and the courier will use them. In cities like San Francisco there are walkers, they carry packages from local stations to local buildings. I believe that the Embarcadero or California building has a station and a walker walks from that to the next door buildings, taking the elevators from floor to floor, dropping off and picking up packages, returning to the station. There are other options out there. But yes it is right for ANYONE to use a toilet without having to buy anything - the use of a toilet should be a right, not a privilege, unless we all want to return to walking in streets full of crap and piss.
