  • I've noticed that the manner in which I speak has changed, and I also notice that I've been friendlier and more confident in the "real world" since I've started conversing with everyone on here. =)
  • No way!?! Jump back Jack!!!
  • YES! Absolutely! I was having this conversation only yesterday with my friend. I'm english, but i use some expressions i have heard on american tv shows, like 'i guess' instead of 'i think' etc. I like using these expressions because i think it improves my communication by making it more friendly and informal and also more upbeat. I guess i am also trying to relate to all the americans on AB.
  • I have changed my suffixes from -ize to -ise (e.g: nationalize -- nationalise). Not entirely because of AB and IM, but seeing it spelled that way does seem to have an effect and I notice my self doing it more. I also have started adding "u" to -or endings. I don't know why. =/ Hahah.
  • Sure. I've picked up a bit of english slang. Aw, bloody hell! I have to go clean my flat. (How'd I do?)
  • Yes. Thanks to Chopsy I've added the words Bint and Chav to my vocabulary. *snicker*
  • That is a really interesting thing Carmella, but I personally have not altered the way I speak or write at all. I am pretty fussy about using correct spelling as much as is possible (I do make errors like anyone else!). So, to me, correct spelling is what I learned at school, which is not US style English. Cheers :)
  • It's odd, but I've not noticed my grammar or anything changing, however, my accent comes out a bit more when I'm on AB. (I've lived in Canada since I was 5 and my accent is weaker than most Scots, except of course, when I'm intoxicated, or apparently on AB).
  • Yes it has changed a lot. I've heard people talk like they do online. Once instead of laughing, my friend said lol.
  • Oh definitely!! im now saying things like 'hell yeah' and ' i guess' - quite a few things actually LOL, cant quite remember them all now, but i find myself writing things down and thinking 'when did i start using that phrase?' oh and the other is calling people 'hon'!! LOL
  • I really, really, bloody hope not.
