Jesus willingly sacrificed his life for our sakes. Judas betrayed a friend for money. Even a non-believer such as yourself can see the difference between the two.
-
Judas did what he had to do, and yes, Judas did get a bad rap. Jesus knew what Judas was up to but He let it happen. they would have gotten Jesus anyway, Why it had to happen as it did (we as humans) will never know.

Didn't I read somewhere that some sort of "Judas chronicles" were found? Or did the catholics hush-hush that already?
-
Not really. Jesus allowed him to betray Him, but He also called Judas a devil(John 6:70-71). Judas was lost and he willingly betrayed the Lord Jesus out of greed. I hope that this helps. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
-
Because Judas had other motives when he did what he did. If he knew he was doing a good thing he might have not done it.
-
You know... I kind of agree with you. If Judas didn't kill Jesus, then Christianity might not exist.
-
Jesus told the Apostles that one of them would betray Him. he already knew that it was going to happen and who it was going to be. Jesus forgave Judas, knowing that Judas played the part that he was supposed to play. The 'bad rap' that Judas has is from the view of others. He betrayed Jesus. Most people aren't as good at forgiving as Jesus.

People...Jesus was spending the night a few feet outside of Jerusalem. If the religious leaders had wanted to find Jesus it would not have been that hard. What Judas did was make it a little easier, that is all. Judas betrayal did not lead to Jesus death. Interestingly enough, and we all sometimes forget this, Judas did repent of his actions.

In the new scriptures found about Judas, they shed a whole new light on him. Google it some time..

this was so the prophecy was fulfilled as jesus himself siad

The Gospel of Judas, written in the early first millenium and heralded by a branch of Christians known as the Gnostics, implies that Judas was simply obeying God's will. The Catholic Church suppressed such varying viewpoints and straightjacketed Christianity to the party-line.

Exaclty right... and the Roman Soldier who killed him should be considered a "high priest" of the most high. You are right to ask this question because it highlights a flaw in "Pauline Theolgy," which says the crucifixion was "Good news for mankind." Jesus himself did not see it that way. He said to the women who morned for him as he was being taken to the cross: Weep not for me, but for yourselves and you children." This whole mix-up came about when theologians decided to ignore what Jesus said about the cross, and pick up what Paul said: "Christ died for our sins." That latter comment is a "substitute gospel" that Jesus himself did not preach. This will explain the whole big mix-up: http://gospelenigma.com So you are right... and the theologians are wrong. Judas would have been a hero if what they are saying is true... but it is not true; it's a substitue gospel, and is nothing at all like the Original Kingdom Gospel.

That's why he was forgiven by Jesus yo...

He sold his soul for 30 pieces of silver. It was a bad decision.

This idea that Judas did a good thing and that he repented and Jesus forgave him is preposterous... Jesus told Judas: “What you are doing get done more quickly.” (John 13:27) Jesus was not putting the idea of betraying him into the mind of Judas, but Judas had gone to the point of no return. Had not Jesus exposed Judas as the one that would betray his Master, and had not Judas failed to DENY it or to PROTEST his INNOCENCE? Judas did not repent or change his course of action, and so we read that then Satan the Devil entered him, and it was only after this that Jesus said to him: “What you are doing get done more quickly

+4 I wouldn't go as far as to say he was a hero. If you hold the belief that Jesus came to earth to be crucified then certainly Judas played an essential role in this plan. But that doesn't mean that his own personal motives were good. . In fact we don't know what his motives were or what he thought would happen after Jesus was arrested. He took silver in payment but that doesn't mean that this was his prime motive. . Jesus was bound to have been arrested at some point unless he planned never to return to Jerusalem so all Judas actually did was to ensure that the arrest took place at a certain time and place. . If the devil entered Judas as some people think then why blame Judas? On the other hand if it was just Judas not the devil, Jesus seemed to know in advance what Judas' actions were going to be so Judas himself could not have changed things - it was already ordained. That pretty much throws the argument about humans having free will out of the window.

Judas' only crime was in acting in this suicide pact. Without Judas cooperation, the whole Crucifiction would not have happened and the inventors of christianity would have to come up with another myth. I guess Judas is to blame for causing an instrument of torture and degradation to become a religious symbol.
