It could be a hundred different reasons for a hundred different religious people. Often times, though, people will develop intolerances for groups that are more likely to question their own beliefs. So, for instance, Christians rarely clash with Hindus, since there is little in common with their belief systems. It's more likely to see two Christian sects clash, since they believe the same things with whatever notable exceptions caused a schism. Atheists, on the other hand, believe that there is no deity, so it's like directly telling Christians that they are wrong right in the very name of the (dis)belief. It's like putting a professional ghost hunter in a room with someone who disbelieves in ghosts- since one person disbelieves in the thing that the other person has made their main identity, it's likely to cause friction.

bostjan the adequate 🥉 Also, good luck. Another time someone asked almost exactly this question, one of the answers was someone condoning mass murder of anyone who disagreed with Christianity, and, IIRC, the answer was never even removed by mods. Christianity is supposed to be about love and peace and forgiveness, and 99% of Christians seem to be cool, but it seems that any time one of the more radical ones gets violent, the majority of them remain silent. -
Shadow Of The Mind Some religious people resort to violence or go against anyone who is different to them.

That's a blanketed statement, I'm not intolerant, I wholeheartedly encourage people to question things if they are having trouble understanding or believing something, belief of anything shouldn't be born out of blind obedience or fear.

I don't give a rat's @ss about Atheists. Everyone has a right to say what they believe and what they don't.

Its been my experience that atheists in general (with several exceptions) are far more intolerant than Christians. Just take this question for instance... You're calling out Christians ... AGAIN! You've called them delusional. So tell me why do you do that if you are "not against religious people" ? And what names do you have for those you ARE against? Atheists have killed far more Christians than Christians have killed atheists. https://reasons.org/explore/blogs/reflections/more-deaths-in-the-name-of-god-or-no-gods ***That kind of thing can cause dislike, don'tcha think?

Your experience is only with certain atheists and not all of us. Not all atheists kill. I’m a pacifist meaning it’s not in me to cause harm to others. I’m not intolerant of religious people. It’s their religious delusions that I dismiss but that doesn’t mean I am against the person. There’s a difference between what goes on in their head and the person themselves. Each atheist is different and there are those who dislike and others who know how to respect.

My friend Kelly became a Christian by her own choice and she is not intolerant of atheists, she has a very live-and-let-live approach to life.
