how much would it cost to hire developers to develop a game engine(like rockstar/unreal etc) for myself (not commercial/AAA or anything like that, just personal use)?

You might be able to find someone in an IT school that will take it on as a project. My Grandson did it for his entry project into his university.

From scratch? One like RAGE? Probably $200k or so. But why would anyone do this? If it's for personal use, just use unreal
