  • It could be a sign of asidies. Fluid building up in your abdomen. It's a sign of liver issues. Have a blood test done. Are there any other signs? Vomiting, dark urine?
  • You would need to increase your exercise considerably. Beer contains many calories, so you need to do the kind of exercise that gets you puffing (running, swimming, cycling). You can also not give up food - but serve yourself smaller portions.
  • Friend, you and I have the exact same problem. Besides quitting (no way in hell) I would suggest you get an exercise mat so that you can focus on doing midsection exercises in comfort. Long and tough elastic bands that you can stretch around your feet until they reach your head will prove most beneficial in making these exercises fun and worthwhile. Hang in there, lest "it" hangs over where you don't want it to.
  • Weight is mainly a result of calories taken in vs calories burned. Stress, inadequate nutrition/malnutrition and a few other factors can change things, but for the most part, that's it. Your options are to cut calories or increase activity. My suggestion would be change than walk to a run (making it aerobic) or at least make it two hours, cut back on the beer or cut back on calorie intake in the rest of your diet.
  • Increase your exercise, eat less and more frequently, eat healthier, drink ultra light beers. I hear that Budweiser has come out with a ultra light version of Select. I think that 2-3 of them is the same calories and carbs as one Bud light.
  • Reading the other replies, I'd agree that alchohol gives you 'empty' calories, so weight gain is an issue, but that the belly bloat is directly linked to an unhappy liver. Fortunately, the liver is one of the organs which can regenerate itself, up to a point, and taking milk thistle/silymarin supplements can help - but the only way to reduce the beer gut is to cut down on the beer. If you enjoy alchohol that much, switch to spritzers or well diluted spirits. If you could do this for a month even - you will lose a lot of bloat, try it and see - no cheating though!
  • I had that problem in the military, running a track will take it off, walking is not the same intensity as running; the thing to remember about eating or drinking is if your going to put it on you got to take it off.
  • switch to light beer. run instead of walk. if you're drinking "too much beer", it's likely that it's having an effect on your body in addition to the more noticeable beer gut. if i were you, i'd cut back too.
  • dont stop drinking beer just cut back on your intake limit getting blitzed to a friday and sunday, not monday and everyother day, eat lots of whole grains and no BEEF
  • Ok; Cut back on the beer consumption .... no more than three per DAY .... and that is pushing it ! Walk at a pace ; (Power Walk) swinging your arms to 'n fro and at your sides .... a mile from your home and back ; three or more times per week ... (Everyday is recommended for faster results ) Cut out most of the white sugar and flour items .... Ea at least TWO leafy green salads each day with NO dressing .. lite vinigar /oil if anything .. DRINK 4-6 glasses , 16 ounces, of COLD water ; ONE before each meal and ONE with each meal ..... You WILL notice a change in that belly in about seven to ten days ... IF not; you need to get to a Doctor and be checked for a Thyroid condition ... Good Luck !
  • actually that is a common missconception ... there is no fat content in beer ! ... you get the tummy from eating all the greassy "beer food" etc ... afterwards and during .
  • I always heard you have to shock your body. If you walk an hour everyday your body gets used to doing this and so you start taking in the necessary calories to continue this activity. You have to do exercise your body isn`t used to doing. You probably also have to sweat quite a bit, no won`t sweat from walking an hour a day.
