  • What you describe is a lot like Answermug with some exceptions that I found to be too dull (for me) to go there. Then I ran into negativity and left. Lol

Not sure what you mean. I have been to Answermug, though. Didnt stay too long. Not because of negativity, more because of user bad interface and usability (Im a usability snob :) I guess these a sites are all similar to a certain extent, right? I mean, ask questions, and answer questions. The difference to me is in how easy is it to use: follow, search, get back to my comments, add pics and links, stuff like that. I like the robustness of more features (told you I was a usability snob :) so I dont have to hunt around for my friends posts and comments.

And time stamps and direct messaging!!! LOL
  • I accidentally ran across that site the other day.

If youre on, I am "miagi78"

Ok; but I have yet to sign up for it.

Gotter dun I am knowitall. lol :)

If I ever show up I'll be Linda Joy just like I've been from the day I was born! I don't claim my slave name anymore. lol
  • I may visit, but this is home for now. For me it's the people. You can find bells and whistles on other sites and they are full of trolls and assholes! It's nice to find a place where you can make lasting friendships.
    • Willy D Billiams
So bring em all along :) This way you get the best of both worlds... same friends, better site.

Its funny, I am enjoying going through the questions and answers. But its so frustrating because I dont know what is active or not. so I see this cool question and I figure "hey, this should make a good conversation" but for all I know it is five years old and the OP and any commenters havnet logged on in years.

I explained our sequential question numbers to you on another thread. If I come across it again I'll make it a point to copy the link and if I can remember this question I'll paste it in here. If not I'll paste it in my notes till I find this again. It was easier when I received notifications. But you'll probably come across it soon enough.

I still answer and comment on older questions. Even if the asker isn't here New people visit all the time and continue the conversation. If someone answers a question it is put back at the top of the most recent active questions list (500). And anyone who answered the question is notified via email (providing they have them on and didn't screw up like me and unsubscribe)

people don't follow me. They might follow Rick he's always nice. I'm too honest and piss people off for not fitting snugly into their preconceived notions. And I anger too easily. Now that I think about it they could probably use another break from me! lol I could use some sun if the weather would just cooperate! The pool is taunting me!

I remember seeing the explanation of the numbering. But its still tough because you still dont really know the time interval between the numbers. So, post 112 could be a week after post 111. I guess the time invterval isnt THAT much of a big deal because its unlikely to be a week or longer. I guess its just the fact that dates arent there. Its hard to remember the number of current posts so, do I need to write it down somewhere? Just seems like a real usability issue.

Ahhh. you can never be too honest. Well, I guess you CAN be.

I get what you say about this being "home" and can find bells and whistles elsewhere. I agree. The problem is that the lack of even basic standard features, even forgetting bells and whistles, indicates a site that isnt being cared for and could, at any time just shut down. It happened a couple of times (SodaHead.com, Gather.com) and both times many relationships were lost--no way to contact ppl I had conversed with for a long time. Of course, you COULD get everyones email, but not really practical. Its a shame when that happens. I see the same symptoms on this site and another I have stopped using. The other site I use, Choozler, has a lot of old SodaHead ppl and its amazing what a relationship they had online and how happy and thankful they were to find each other again.

Hey Linda I do follow you here.
    • Linda Joy
I didn't mean here, Rick. I meant follow me to another site.
    • Linda Joy
It was simple enough for me to put my email address in my profile and nothing here happens very fast anyway. I've lost friends when sites closed before. Yahoo360, Multiply, MSN's Q&A, I found a lot of them on FB.
    • Rick Myres
Well I'm sorry I misunderstood what you said -:) I should stick to the conversation instead of taking it comment by comment. Lol
  • And make two?
  • People seem good here, but there just arent enough redeeming qualities to overcome a site that, in 1995, would be considered lacking in features.
