  • There are no real techniques that you can use to help get over your grief. What you are feeling is perfectly normal and natural. Time is a great healer, and I guess that although you still feel sad now, you dont feel quite as bad as did when you first lost your pet. Of course you will think of your pet for a long time, probably every day a few times a day. Afterall, they have always been part of your life. Sometimes it may help to think that your dog is in the afterlife, being cared for by relative who has passed on. And, if you beleive in the afterlife where humans and pets are together, maybe you can console yourself thinking that one day you'll be together again.
  • There are pet loss support groups. Do a web search and find one in your area, or call the humane society and they can help you find and join one. My husband did this after our dog died at the age of only 1 1/2 years. I can't imagine how painful it is to lose a pet you have known your entire life.
  • this may help you The Rainbow Bridge There is a bridge connecting Heaven & Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole. They play together all day. There is only one thing missing: They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. Each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting friend. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.
