  • The average person's hair grows around ½ inch per month - that's 1.25 cm or 12.5 mm. If the average month has 30 days, then the average person's hair will grow a little more than a millimeter every 3 days.
  • It's just like shaving your beard, moustache, or other body hair - it grows continuously, but at a slightly different rate. A growth rate of 0.5 in per month is a pretty good estimate. Are you sure you want to shave your head in the first place? Your scalp can sunburn quite easily if you are fair-skinned. Band-aids on the shaving cuts look pretty peculiar up there. And your head may just look plain scarey once it all comes off - bumps, ridges, and valleys that the hair mercifully masks. Been there, done that... what an ugly sight to behold. It didn't look any better the second time I tried it. Mercifully, most of us grow out of youthful stupidity... err adventurism. I haven't shaved anything since.
  • Although there is no real answer, but rough estimates, a study "howstuffworks" quotes a study which says hair grows at around 1/2mm each day. http://www.howstuffworks.com/question251.htm
  • It starts to grow back immediately. You may even have a 5 o'clock shadow the next day. Some people's hair grows faster or slower.
  • I just shaved my head three weeks ago for the first time, three weeks later it is about one half inch long
