  • I would rather cook it myself, those places use the micro wave to much. Also they use to much garlic I hate garlic (bad breath for 3 days is not for me). To much fat to be healthy. I am very persnickety. Good Question there Mr. Ice. Nov. 16

Please, no need to be so formal ..just call me Ice. (if we ever get a private message system - I'll tell you my real name). I am a cook (among other things) and I rarely use my Micro Wave for anything but thawing (that can be disastrous as well). I do like garlic but it should be used in moderation, as you said - a breath problem. It's rare that I dine out, but when I do it's a treat and I generally know the person cooking my supper.
  • Yes, I like to cook, in fact it is part of my job. I work in a cafe.

I've always said that to be good at it .. you have to first like doing it. So I have no doubt that you're a good cook. In the winter (when I'm not truckin') I volunteer my time as cook at my local veteran's club. I know 1st hand what it is to stand over a hot grill. Generally 2 months before I quit the road, the gang starts asking when I'll be back in the kitchen, because they can't wait.
  • When I was younger I liked to cook and to bake - I still cook every day but the fun is gone... the work in the kitchen is tiring, more than I like. We avoid dining in restaurants because I have no control over the ingredients of our dinner - secondly- we have no money for it......

I hear you load and clear, you need a helper. The prep work can be a mountain of work and I agree about dining out, although when I do dine out I generally know the people doing the cooking and I'm always welcome in the kitchen to say hello or to give them a hand. When I show up with my own apron under my arm they know I mean business. Cooking for myself is not fun for me either, but I do still love cooking for a crowd. The folks at my local Veterans Club like my cooking and that's reward enough for me. : )

Why did I not marry a cook ??????????????
    • Ice man
I'm pretty sure "D" can be handy & make you a mean grilled cheese. LOL
  • I was asked this a while back and I had to think about it and it occurred to me that I never really thought about whether or not I liked it I just assumed it was my job so I did it. I would rather cook than dine out.
    • Ice man
Then you must like doing it ... cooking, that is ... in the kitchen ... Doh! that still doesn't sound right. lol

I think maybe you just want me to like doing it. In the kitchen lol Truth is I'm too cheap to dine out it's expensive and I really don't have much money to work with. Okay, I admit there's also the fact that I like things done exactly the way I want them done and it's unfair to ask a restaurant to do that for me, besides they probably wouldn't get it right.

I understand your position and usually cook myself too. Oh Jeezuz, that didn't come out right either.. lol
    • Linda Joy
And here I thought you were in a committed relationship! Lol. Maybe I don't completely understand your position! ; ) lol

I've worked in restaurants all my life I've probably fed millions of people.

      Yeah, really.

And sometimes you don't even like the food, because it's not like what you are used to....
  • Kidding?
    • Ice man
No, the question was straight forward. Some people (like myself) like to cook and some people don't.
    • Vittorio 'Sam' Manunta-Lowell
      You answered your point!
    • Ice man
Yes, but you didn't answer the question ...as to whether you prefer to cook or dine out.
