of course it is... why: Because they have ceased listening to anyone who doesn't give them money toward their presidential campaign.

They are a total waste of time. Complete lunacy. Even george W has a higher approval rating.

All politicians are a waste of time. I suggest we wipe them out (think politician genocide) then instate people who have proved to be truthful in almost every area of their lives.

It would seem so. When asked to clean up itself it gives a nod to the idea and then passes legislation that permits congressmen to continue receiving gifts. Any individual in Congress will probably give you an honest answer about his/her personal philosophy...but when it comes time to vote their loyalty goes to the party line, their constituents who support them financially, the lobbyists who give them the best presents/most presents and any other special interest groups that are hanging around. They only seem to represent us by accident. For example, there is no excuse to continue with an income tax system that calls for an accountant to analyze how much you have to pay. There is no excuse not to have some kind of national health care program. There is no excuse for not permitting us to purchase prescription drugs from Canada. There's no excuse for secrecy in government. There's no excuse for failing to have a national energy policy. There's no excuse for cars not being required to get better mileage. There's no excuse why the American public isn't provided greater protection when it is available. And, there's no excuse why this country is spending billions of dollars every week to support our troops fighting and dying in a country that doesn't really like us very much and wants us out of there. We're not in Iraq by anybody's invitation. Why do we try to justify spending the lives of our young men and women and the tax dollars of the entire country to support this war? But Congress permits all these things to continue. So, YES, Congress is really that screwed-up. Sorry for the rant.
