  • Wow. That is really really stupid.
  • None, they're just fearful of the genitals.
  • Probably the same drugs that the person or persons who suspended the teacher are on. I wonder what part of Texas this school is in? Must be stuck in the 1950's.
  • Some good ones, it seems! My, if only I lived there again, I could get some good stuff... But really, it's foolish - the girl is going to see them soon anyways most likely, give or take a few years. I mean really, there's no use crying over sculpted genetials.
  • Did the parents not sign a permission slip for said child to go on this field trip? The parents signed over liability when they were told that this was a MUSEUM (and is "museum" not associated with artistic nudity like the statue of David and such?) and gave permission for her to go, so it is not the school's fault the girl's eyes just happened to fall upon a small, sculpted penis.
  • Wouldn't it be ironic if CPS took the kid away to "protect" her? After all, her Parents let her go.
  • What drugs is the school administration on not to stand by their teacher?
  • Um, what? Wow. How do those people live, in a bubble? It's a statue that's been around longer than THEY have. It's not pornographic, it's natural! Wow... that poor teacher. So the teacher gets suspended because a girl has EYES? Jeezus. Only in America, folks. *hangs head in shame*
  • This was a school district in Collin County. There was more going on here than you will ever read in the news. The district hired this teacher who had been "released" from another district and was in the process of "letting her explore her other options" when the museum trip happened. The teacher claimed this is why she was not having her contract renewed. NOT SO. There is much more here than meets the eye.
  • It would seem they've taken an overdose of repressive conditioning, plus an unhealthy dose of ignorance. I suspect that in their world anything associated with sex, reproduction or child rearing is simply not to be admitted to. So storks bring babies, penises are 'Satan's wands', breasts are 'devil's dumplings' and so on. Stupidity. I wonder if their table legs have skirts to avoid anyone getting naughty ideas? I wouldn't be surprised if the child is mortally embarassed at the parent's behaviour. In what way is this preparing the child for the real world? And if it doesn't do that, shouldn't the parent's actions be questioned as a correct way to bring up a child? Imagine the shock of being brought up like this, only to have reality hit at 100 mph when the real world is finally encountered. Keeping people ignorant doesn't save them, from themselves or anyone else. All too often, it consigns them to pregnancy or fatherhood at 15 or younger.
  • They must be on the "$" drug. They had to have signed a permission slip for her to go. I agree with Stewie. If anyone gets in trouble, it should be them.
  • Pure insanity. The real question is, what kind of drugs was the school administration on? I mean, the field trip had to have been approved by THEM before the teacher and the kids went there. So they basically gave THEIR okay for the kids to see whatever exhibits were in the museum. I know a teacher who was disciplined when a child's parent wrote a letter to the local newspaper complaining that the teacher showed the movie "The Right Stuff" and failed to censor out the word DAMN when a group of eighth graders were watching it. Damn? Are you freaking kidding me? "The Right Stuff" is an awesome movie about astronauts and the space program, and this teacher was showing it to her physical science class. This parent seemed to think that the word "damn" was too vulgar for a 13 year old, when any idiot knows that 13 year olds hear worse than that every morning on the bus ride to school.
