Buddhism - Is it helpful to go back to the place (geographical) where you experienced the most extreme suffering and do some ritual (meditation, chanting, pujas, etc)?

Yes. If you believe that will help you to releave the suffering. There is a Sanskrit saying that to cure the malady you require faith in "Mani, Manthra, Oushadam" meaning "prayer beeds or gems, sacred words and medicines". This depends on entirely on the faith that we posses.
