Isn't it amazing how evolution provides? This makes perfect sense if you think about it. Early in the female cockroaches' mating cycle, she will attempt to select the 'best' (whatever 'best' is by cockroach standards) mate so that her genes will be combined with a good set of other genes to give her offspring the best chance to be healthy. However, if 'all the good ones are taken', it behooves the female cockroach to 'scrape the bottom of the barrel' to ensure that her genes will get passed on in SOME form, even if the resulting genetic combination is sub-optimal. It really does make perfect sense. What doesn't make perfect sense is the human analog, where it seems that we (particularly women) end up sleeping with sub-optimal cockroaches when we have better options...;-D.... . . .
