Who would win in a virtual death match: Joseph Smith or L. Ron Hubbard. I'd pick Joseph Smith because he grew up in harsher times and had to forge a new life in Utah. Since I live near Clearwater where they built their mega-structure and I see them in the downtown all the time, they do act strange. I'm going to have to vote for Scientology by a slim margin.

I would say that the scales tip towards Scientology, mainly because of its obvious targetting of the screwed up and goalless rich and famous.

Both are made up religions with no factual basis whatsoever to stand on....but, Scientology is definitely weirder. It was made up by a sci-fi writer in the 1950's and the beliefs look like a religion made up by a 50's sci-fi writer. Mormonism's age lends it more visual (as opposed to valid) credibility. Simple examination of their beliefs, 'revised' history of the America's and connection to the actual Bible...just goes to show how baseless the religion is.
