  • English I reckon, fairly easy because of the the various words derived from other languages... Sanskrit would probably be the hardest, because of the number of words, It's unique written form, and it's unique pronounciations (for someone from a Western Background). It is a dying language because of the difficulty in learning it.
  • I think Spanish is the easiest-every letter is pronounced, and always pronounced the same way. Grammar is very basic. The hardest? I heard it was Swahili-it's all to do with tongue clicks-(sounds like Klingon) The hardest spoken language I learnt was Cantonese-it has 9 tones
  • It depends on the person, and where that person come from etc. For me, language that will be most interesting to learn is Japanese because I love anime and mangas. The most difficult one for me is English because I can't stress well. The easiest is Chinese, which is my home language. Besides of that, I will say French is easiest to learn since there are no stresses like English.
  • Zulu, Chinese(From what I have heard), The one that you first start learning.
  • I've heard that english is the hardest to learn, if you are a non-english speaker. I hear that spanish is the easiest to learn, as they have less words, and have very simple rules. Interesting, from MY perspective, I think Japanese is the most interesting. I'm having a hard time with the grammar part, but I'm getting there.
  • English is supposedly the most difficult, because we have so many different dialects and colloquial expressions, not to mention a million cognates from other languages. I've learned German, and it was fairly easy, however I speak English, so learning another language with a Latin base wasn't a very hard task. I find Greek and Russian to be the most interesting languages.
  • It depends on what your birth language is. As others have said English is a hard language for a non-English speaker, but if that was your first language it was not difficult to learn! With English as a starting point, one of the easiest languages to learn should be Dutch- they are very similar. English is a blend of Romantic, Germanic and Celtic languages, so languages of all of those families will have similarities with English, making them easer to learn. The hardest ones to learn would be ones that are not related to English at all- Chinese dialects, Japanese, Arabic, African languages, etc. With each of them you would be starting from scratch with no common points of reference. Most Interesting- I'd say Japanese, because of the influence of Japanese culture on American culture. Another consideration should be the most practical one to learn- for example, it would be more worthwhile to learn Spanish than to learn Welsh. You will have a whole lot more people to talk to, and it would be a valuable employment skill.
  • Most interesting: Portugese - visit Portugal and Brazil! Most Difficult: Korean - I know, I tried...very very tough, the word for thanks is 5 syllables. The Easiest: Loa (pronounced "Lau" - the language of Loas - very easy, short words but some tough ng sounds. Altogether pretty easy in my estimation
