  • That's lame. I was in an Office Depot a couple months back and a guy was trying to return a USB camera that wasnt compatible with Vista (yet). They wouldn't give the money back without a receipt they could only do an exchange. He slammed the thing down on the counter and walked away...and I'm thinkin..."Vista just came out man, wait a week it'll be compatible" but oh well.
  • I think people like to pick on food service workers because they feel thay can get away with it. They take advantage of the fact that you are serving them. Usually they are really miserable people. who else would behave in such a vile manner?
  • Some people just feel superior to people who work at jobs which serve others. It is probably the only time they feel this way because they are usually very small people, unhappy and not very well liked. There is no excuse for rudeness and when people behave this way it is a direct reflection upon their character (or lack thereof).
  • They shouldn't. But food servers are often the target of displaced anger over something else/ at somebody else. Have a bad day? Take it out on the server. (Not right or just, but it happens.) Also, restaurants compete on the basis of service as well as food, and they encourage high customer expectations. Some people use this as an excuse to be a jerk. This lady isn't quite as low-down as the twit who hassles the food server and makes a big deal out of little stuff in order to show his dining companion what a cosmopolitan he is. His type is the worse, I think. On VERY rare occasions, I've sent food back to the kitchen if there was something really wrong. But I've done it in a quiet voice, without raising a fuss, and I haven't lowered the waiter's tip if it was the kitchen's fault or if service was slow because the waitstaff was short-handed. Food servers work hard.
  • I suspect is the anonymity of it also. They have all this pent up feeling they don't know how to deal with, and so they use the opportunity where they can vent and not have any consequences. It has become very common on the internet, as well. There is apparently a lot of pent up rage out there.
