You can use weed killer but you would have to use it every day for about a week....It will die but it is harder to remove because the stems become harder...try this..;)

What we did was to cut along the edges of the walls, etc, and pull down the dead pieces a couple of weeks later, and apply Borax on the ground every week for several months. Keep a close eye on the ground, and pull or apply Borax whenever it makes another appearance. Pulling every week is good exercise. I recommend it.

I have found pulling to be the most effective. My neighbor had some success using a weed whacker then spraying full strength Round-Up on the newly emerging young leaves.
