  • Yes and yes.
  • I wear seatbelts not only in my car but when I'm also in someone else's car. I do insist that others wear one when in my car. Some people get a little annoyed but the bottom line is if you don't wear it in my car, you don't ride in my car.
  • I always try to wear my seatbelt, unless I just physically cannot do so- whatever the reason. I always wear it. I don't have a car, but if I did, I would make everyone wear their seatbelt.
  • I wear seatbelts in any vehicle and insist those in mine wear one too. There are far more glamorous ways to die than being thrown from a car or rammed into by a flying human projectile.
  • I do since I got that $25. ticket for not being buckled up. I also insist that others wear them in my car.
  • Yes, and yes. I do not want to have to explain to someone's family that I killed their family member because of carelessness. And I don't want anyone to have to explain something like that to my family.
  • Yes, I always wear them, and if you want a ride you will have to buckle up.
  • I don't like to wear them, but I sure don't want to fork over $75 if I am stopped. Others that ride with me usually buckle up without asking.
  • I wear them in my car, as driver and passenger. I wer them in other people's cars and may not ride with them if they don't work. I insist that others wear them so I am not responsible if they get hurt and because it is the law.
  • Yes, it is an immediate fine in the UK. You must make sure that front seat passengers are wearing belts, that is the responsibilty of the Driver and the driver would be the person penalised. Back seat passengers are responsible for their own belts unless they are minors.
  • I wear seatbelts all the time it is a Law in my state that everyone must wear seatbelts and even if it wawsn't I still would wear them and anyone who is in the car with me must wear them.
  • I wear my seatbelt all the time. I do not insist that my passengers do but the majority of the time they put it on when they see me do it.
  • Ofcourse, i was in a car crash once, i told my friend to put his seat belt on which he did, after the next corner we crashed into a hedge row. i smashed my nose up, he fracture his rib on the seat belt and my girlfriend at the time who was driving bruised her front on the steering wheel. Dont remember much, my blood was all over the dash though.
  • Yes, I always have worn seat belts and now it is a habit every time I get into a car. And yes, I insist my passengers wear them, state law.
  • My car does not move until all passengers are buckled. My reasoning is 2 fold: 1.If your in my car I must care about you in some small way (at least) therefore I don't want to see you get hurt. 2.If we get in an accident, unbuckled passengers become projectiles. I don't want your teeth in the back of my head!
  • I always wear a seatbelt. I insist my kids do (really because I can) but others can put it on if they like. I live in NH and it's not mandatory. When I travel in Mass it is, so ALL passengers need to put it on or get out of my car.
  • No belt, no ride. Simple. I always wear mine too. Years ago I worked in insurance claims, so I have seen what not wearing one can do. While we're on the topic. . .folks, do not (NOT!) ride around with infants and small children on your lap. Duh!
  • Yep. I strap myself in pretty good all the time.
  • Always! but i am forever telling my partner to belt up, he always forgets and he's always halfway down the road before he does.
  • Of course I do both of these. You stand a much better chance of surviving and/or avoiding a more serious accident when you do. My brother was hit by another car while driving. He foolishly was not wearing his seat belt, and was thrown across the car. According to the police, had he been wearing the belt, not only could he have avoided more serious injury, but the might have remained in control longer and avoided the other cars he hit.
  • Yes, definitely. In fact, I refuse to drive until I verify that all of my passengers have buckled up.
  • My car does not move until everyone is strapped in.
  • Yep ... " Buckle Up People - The ride's gonna be tough " ( that's what I normally say ):-)
  • I do. It's the law in my state.
  • Apart from it being the law in the UK, I really fo not want to be killed by some selfish jerk sitting behind me who smashes my restrained and airbagged head with their loose one. I don't move off until all are strapped in. I'm selfish that way
  • Yes, I ALWAYS wear a seat belt and get freaked out when I am in the back seat of someone's car and can't find the seatbelt. I won't even start moving in my car until everyone is buckled in.
  • Yes, on both counts. But once someone has ridden with me, there's no need for a reminder, they buckle up right away.
  • Yep. I never did until I started driving, even though my parents always tried to force my brother and I to wear them. We usually buckled when we entered the car and then sneakily removed them as soon as possible. For some reason, once I started driving myself, it just became habit and I can't drive off now without buckling and making sure everyone else is buckled, too!
  • Of course. I always wear mine, and I tell others to as well.
  • My car does not shift into gear until everyone is strapped in. No exceptions. If you don't like it, you can get out and walk... Or we have a lovely public transportation system 'round here.
  • Yes. I always do. I start freaking out when someone isn't buckled in. :)
  • Always! Was once in a head-on collision with no seatbelt. It was BAD and amazing that I didn't go through the windshield. Note to self...
  • Yes I wear seatbelts. I advise others to wear seatbelts.
  • We aren't going anywhere until EVERYONE is belted up. NO safety belts no car ride:-)
  • yeah I always wear my seatbelt - I feel like something is really really wrong if I forget to put it on.
  • I always wear a seatbelt,I was in a horrible wreck once totaled the car I was in and I still only got wiplash because I wore my seatbelt.: )Besides,It's the law where I live, you have to wear a seatbelt.
  • Yes... And there's not advising... I don't drive without everyone belted in. (Comes from the old days when my kids were little... My ex used to say "What would happen if you were in a wreck with them in the car? They'd be belted in but you weren't." Amazingly logical for her! ;-) And now it doesn't even feel comfortable to even drive across a parking lot without it.)
  • I rarely wear mine and will gladly pay the fine. I see it as one more control from the nanny state. I make sure anyone under 18 is buckled, but anyone over 18 can choose for themselves. I see my wearing or not wearing a seatbelt to be between me and my insurance company.
  • I almost never wear a seatbelt. I am only hurting myself if I don't, and I feel it is not the law's responsibility to decide whether I hit the windsheild or not. I can't remember the last time I had a passenger that was too young to make that decision.
  • i never wear my seatbelts when i'm driving or am in someone elses car, even though they are mandatory in my country. i just don't find them comfortable enough. and since i don't cause any danger to anyone else (i always happen to sit in the front seats) i think it's my choice whether to wear them or not. besides there have been cases where people have survived serious accidents while not wearing seatbelts by being thown out of their cars, when they would have surely been killed otherwise. so seatbelts could kill you as well:) i guess i just don't like them, that's all.
  • I wear mine out of habit. I dont have a car but I will usually remind my bf to wear his if he forgets it. that's partially because I care and mostly because if he notices he forgot it in the middle of driving he lets go of the wheel to put it on and has almost caused accidents that way before. anyone else i'll leave alone.
  • No I don't wear them, and I don't insist on anyone wearing either. Everyone is free to wear or not in my car. I'm of the opinion that comfort far outweighs the risk. Those who are often in cars are naturally more susceptible to car accidents. Those who walk in busy cities are naturally more susceptible to being hit, falling, slipping... When everyone is required to wear a helmet while walking, I'll consider buckling my seatbelt.
  • Yes on both counts. I don't want to go flying through the windshield like in the Switchblade Symphony song!
  • Yes both times. Although I don't have my own vehicle.
  • every time without fail.
  • Without fail. It's just a matter of habit now. And if I didn't, my car would start with the annoying "ping...ping...ping" until I acted on what I had to so the "ping thingy" would shut up! Anyway, seatbelts no longer bother me. They're a lot more comfortable than they were when they first came out. I admit, though, I don't like the damn government telling me what to do on the things that are none of their damn business! +5...and the government didn't make me do that. :-)
  • every time
  • yes, my daughter got us trained to use our seat belts when she was in kindergarden. And yes, that was a long, long time ago...before seat belts & child seats were mandatory. ;)
  • Yes, too many maniacs around. +5
  • All the time, it something i automatically do when i get in my car. +5
  • Without fail.Cant stand being nagged about it and boy can that car nag.lol If it nags too long it forgets to stop.+5
  • Yes. My last ticket for not wearing one smartened me up on using it.
  • Absolutely. I feel something is terribly awry on the rare occasion I've started off without doing so.
  • yes always +5
  • Always
  • I always do. It has saved my life at least once. It would have saved my grandfather's life in 1970. I forgot once in 1979 and went to the hospital - just once. There was a year in the mid nineties in the County of Santa Clara in California, with well over 1,000,000 people at the time, that there was no one single death in traffic of a person wearing seat belt - and entire year! You can die wearing one. There are rare circumstances or extremely high speeds where death cannot be avoided ... but statistically, this is a no-brainer.
  • Nope, not when I am driving. I know, I know...I should. My kids all do, and there are times when I will put the freaking thing on, but not very often. I look at it this way, it's my life. The government has no right to tell me how to live it. If I was meant to die in a car because I didn't wear my seatbelt then so be it. If I am a passenger and the driver asks me to do so I will. I wouldn't want my death on someone elses head. If I didn't live in BFE it might be a little different.
  • I always forget, until I see the sheriff around. I keep trying to remember, but I never do...
  • Always - and so does anyone that rides with me +4
  • Always, i feel naked with out one on
  • I always wear a seatbelt, there is nothing to be gained from NOT wearing one (contrary to those who claim a seatbelt is going to trap you in a burning/sinking car after an accident) I insist others do mainly because I don't want to get pulled over. Depending on the state I could get ticketed for it.
  • I have been driving for 4 years now and I never wear my seatbelt. I haven't ever received a fine either. it's up for my passsengers to decide if they want to wear their seatbelts or not.
  • Definitely no seat belt for me! Don't care if it's the law or not. I'm happy for passengers to make their own seat belt choice in my vehicle. Yes, there is some risk involved but it's probably infinitesimally small - we've just been conditioned in modern society to thinking it's the end of the world if someone chooses not to belt up. Give me comfort and freedom of movement and freedom of choice - and my choice is to leave the damn belt on its hook - the ride is so much more enjoyable that way!
  • I rarely wear seatbelts. They make me feel uncomfortable and I'm rarely in the car for more than 30mins at a time. If passengers want to wear seatbelts in my car, I have no problem. As for me, I choose to be free.
  • I am the driver. We do not move forward until everyone is buckled in.
