  • :-O That is just Insane, (pun not intended) I think Religion should be irrelevent when it comes to the treatment of Human Health; Of all health, while Im at it. Also, Scientology is not a religion, it is a cult. A disgusting exploitative cult that needs to be busted open and exposed as the damaging fraud it is.
  • Most definately! You only have to look at Tom Cruises rant over Kelly Brook being on anti-depressants! Why should she not have them if she was suffering from post-natal depression? She may of ended up causing harm to the baby!!!(just an analogy). So this situation could have been avoided if this woman could of been treated!
  • You'll have to give some specifics for this to be believable. I live in Sydney and know of no such case. One such case was reported like that last year, but in the end it turned out to be a false report. The father in question was not a Scientologist.
  • Scientology itself is an excellent marker for mental health problems.
  • I don't know all the specifics of this case, but in general, I would say 'yes' because Scientology is vehemently opposed to psychology and psychiatric treatment, insisting that members need only Scientology tech to treat all their problems.
  • There may or may not be a case in Australia like that but I definitely know of one in the US that was like that. Jeremy Perkins. Child of a Scn'ist, stabbed her to death. He wasn't getting psychiatric treatment because of the family's affiliation. While it's no guarantee that psychiatric treatment would have prevented this murder (some of the people who've gone on shooting sprees were on medications...) it still seems likely that it probably would have been prevented and also, we'll never know as it's too late for the Perkins family now.I've been involved in Scn a long time, first in CofS then most fervently and thankfully out of it, and I will say that Scn courses and auditing aren't harmful to a person's wellbeing. But membership in CofS is due to its predatory nature, mistreatment of people and lastly and most germane to this query, because they do not allow members to get any psychological or psychiatric treatment- EVER. Well, sometimes people NEED psychology based or psychiatric treatment and that's just how it is.
