Is it alright to mix two boxes of the same brand/type of permanent hair color that are different colors but similiar; one is black/brown and the other is burgundy. It takes 2 boxes so die all of my hair. Can I just mix these two together?

I think you should know that dying your hair at home is a very risky process. If you mix the colors, it really could turn your hair a completely different color. I know about this because I always used to dye my hair at home, because I hated my hair dresser. Found a new one, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (emphasis on so) glad that I went to a professional. Spend the extra cash to get it done..It really is worth it.

Snayles is right that at-home hair color is risky. However, if you have done it before and are comfortable with it, yes, you can mix colors. Know, though, that it WILL change the color it comes out. Translation: the black will almost certainly not "cover up" the burgundy. Chances are, your hair will be very, very dark burgundy. But there's really no telling until you do it. If you are comfortable with taking that chance, go for it.
