I scanned my PC with AVG, AVAST and other anti-virus programs but none of them seem to find anything wrong. And this "safecenter" seem to have unwanted access to my system. For example, it keeps changing my homepage from 'www.yahoo.com' to 'www.asafecenter.com' And moreover, it causes a 'Microsoft Internet Explorer Warning' which says - Warning! W32.Myzor.FK@yf is a virus that infects files with .exe extensions. It attempts to steal passwords and private information from the infected computer. Type: Virus Infection Length: 138,293 bytes System Affected: Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, (all versions), 2003, Windows XP (all service packs) Systems Not Affected: DOS, EPOC, Linux, Macintosh, Novell Netware, OS.2, UNIX Technical Details: 1. Creates files in %Windir% directory. By default this is C:Windows. 2.Adds values to registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MNACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun 3.Scans the hardrive for .exe files and infects any executable files. The new AVG allows you to schedule times for scans where old did not. On main page of AVG on the left hand side click computer scanner and a page comes up where you may set date & time, edit as often as you like. 8. Under tools at the top, look under history, you will find the virus vault basis same as old program. You can delete one by one or just empty vault, or rescan from here etc. Also under tools you can start a scan on your own, scan a file if you wish, or folder, do an update if you just wish to check and see if they are all done. 9. One of the biggest difference’s is when you are surfing the net you will see little green star by web site as AVG checks them for you to see if safe before entering, if there’s a question mark program is unsure. 10. Another little great tool for you is go to Google or Yahoo : One of the best pieces of FREE software there is today that will show you what is on your computer is known as: Belarc once it is downloaded you simply run and time you wish to see what is installed on your PC, from OS to Model, hardware, software, hot fix’s and the Keys to software on PC. This makes it a valuable program in that you can run it every so often and print off and save for you keys if for no other reason. *** Note: It is wise to only run one virus program at a one time but run as many spyware as you like, only run them one at a time, other wise they will conflict with each other, it is good to have more than one as each will find some thing the other did not. Unistall any other program as they may conflict such as Norton,MacAfee etc. The only one this list that runs in safemode F8 is AVG anti-spyware, which does work great in safemode. Also wise thing to do is to run the virus & spyware program once without internet connection and then again with internet, as some times the virus will try to block program other wise when internet is running.
