I believe CSI: Miami is meant to be more "fantasy" and "comic book" than the others: Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) actually says so in an interview. Attached is the video in which she says it- and it's also a pretty hilarious look at Horatio Caine impressions from the rest of the cast.

It lends a different "feel" to the show - it does make it seem less real, but it sets it apart from other shows, and most people will never realize why if they surf onto it, they always know that's what show it is. There are other shows which use effects to seem different (and less realistic) than others. Watch Pushing Daisies sometimes. It's quite different, but it works.

It's a stylistic device. The saturation of warm colors gives it a different feel from say, CSI NY where greys and bluish tints are the norm. This also reminds me of the movie "Traffic" where this was used with a heavy hand by S. Soderbergh, depending on the location of the story shown.

It is unreal. You don't see REAL crime scene techs showing up in designer clothes - or wearing guns.
