Stress is sneaky like that. I think the best thing to do is to have a daily practice in which you get rid of all the distractions and activities, and just sit quietly for a while -- even 5-10 minutes is better than nothing (I usually meditate for 40 minutes, but I appreciate that this is a tall order for most people). The question is really "can you sit quietly and just appreciate the moment?" -- i.e. without having to rush around or solve anything, and without being driven by some nagging thoughts about what is unfinished, etc. If you can do that, you're probably in good shape. If you can't -- if you spend your 10 minutes in agitated, distracted thinking, or feel like you have to get up and do something RIGHT NOW, that's stress talking.

Stress affects different people in different ways. Only you know what the signs are. You must know when you are building up to something or another because it happens to you. Also, stress doesn't necessarily make you screw up. You make you screw up and stress may have nothing to do with it.
