  • The more intelligent Catholics tell their children that the Bible is not a science textbook, and they shouldn't look in the Bible for answers to scientific questions any more than they should look in a science textbook for answers to religious questions.
  • As I understand it, the Catholic Church has no official stance on evolution, but in 16 years of Cathilic education, I was never once told that evolution was a myth. Quite to the contrary, many educators -- the Jesuits, in particular -- offer a very faith-based but academic approach to the Bible and theology, allowing for flexibility in interpretation. If you stop investigating and questioning matters, you can never learn the full truth. Evolution is wholly compatible with Catholicism and those who use the Bible as an excellent guide and history book rather than the absolute truth.
