It is our 231st celebration since the Declaration of Independence was signed. We have other bank holidays, but for us Americans, it is our day to celebrate that this is the day we are granted freedom.

It isn't as big on the whole 'selling' thing as other Holidays are. Most people I know don't even buy anything special, they just go watch fireworks. Unfortunately, the meat industry tries to cash in and get people to buy meat for bbqing, but beyond that, fireworks, grills and charcoal, that's about it.

In Nashville, Tn., the 4th of July is a huge celebration. our fireworks display has been awarded the 2nd or 3rd best in the nation. the Nashville Symphony plays in harmony with the exploding fireworks. its fantastic. This year, 22,000 pounds of pyrotechnics will fill the sky's over Nashville, in celebration of the 4th. Its a really big deal!

We celebrate it here where I live and, personally, my family has a large celebration with a parade and everything.

Yes, big, big celebration. Everyone convenes at the local watering hole where we all eat various kinds of grilled meat and than blow things up.
